Many years of research and experience have taught us that the sea sponge is a vegetable creature of the sea, found on the sea bed in the shape of a disproportionate balloon, mostly growing on rocks in large underwater camps at a depth of 60 feet and over. The sea sponge makes inward and outward motions, that is, it puffs and pants in the water, as if breathing. By making these motions, it absorbs and releases sea water, keeping the substances it needs to feed itself. The sea sponge is envoloped by a soft and glue-likesubstance, which looks like skin. Our fisherman call this skin “Tsipa”. When the Tsipa is removed, one can see the spongy mass excreting a milky and sticky substance which has a very nasty smell, By squeezing this substance out of the sea sponge we are left with the sea sponge in it’s recognised form. However, it is still not ready for use because it still needs to be washed and to recieve the necessary treatment. The fishing of sea sponges is done by divers who reach the depth of the sea, either completely unequiped or by wearing masks or the latests deep sea diving equipment.…

All our natural soaps are glycerin and vegetable oil based, and DO NOT contain animal products or caustic soda. Caustic soda is commonly used in soaps but also in oven-cleaning products, and can be irritating or unsuitable for sensitive skins. People who have not been able to use soap for years because of skin problems/allergies tell us how comfortable they feel using our natural soaps and how much it relieves their condition (like Lavender and Clary Sage, or Rose and Geranium, or Tea Tree, Eucalyptus and Melissa). Some people chose a natural soap for its aroma, some for its effect. And some to decorate their bathroom!

The Loofah is an all year round climbing plant with huge yellow flowers and 5-7 multisplit leaves. It’s fruits are cylindrical and during ripening the interior is transformed into a spongy fibrous mass somewhat like a mesh. After special treatment (cleaning and bleaching) loofahs are used as sponges for bathing and massaging. The Loofah is sowed late in spring and has a preference for warm climates. Each plant, according to it’s variety gives upto 10 to 15 fruits and needs a lot of moisture. Each has a minimum length of 45cm. After the Loofah is dried and the skin removed, the outer layer which is soft, is processed. The end Loofah product can be used for healthy body cleansing, suppressing cellulite and helping blood circulation, leaving the skin feeling softer. The inner layer of the Loofah which is harder can be used for treating the rough body areas. It can also be used for cleaning hard surfaces in the house and washing kitchenware as it does not leave any scratches.
